After several years of research, Bodega Benegas decided to buy in 2010, Finca Encerrada, a 70 ha/175 acre vineyard located in Uco Valley, in the high zone of Gualtallary district in Tupungato, at 1450 mt above the sea level. This micro zone is highly valuated in Mendoza because of the excellent quality of its malbecs.

The soil is composed by a thin layer of sand and after this, it is only stone and clay. The desertic climate, with more than 300 days of sun and a convenient daily range of temperature, assure a balanced development of poliphenols and acidity, granting freshness and elegance to the wines.

Today we have 20 ha (50 acres) planted, mainly with Malbec grapes of more than 8 years. There is also some chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. In 2012, 20 more ha (50 acres) of Malbec were planted to follow the growth of the winery sales.
